Former political figure Sarah Palin has signed up to co-host the Today show this week for some reason, NBC reports. She will do the honors tomorrow (Tuesday).According to a message posted on the network’s official site, Palin, 48, is getting ready to “reveal a different side of her than you’ve seen before.”What side could that be? Intelligence? The 2008 GOP V.P. nominee and Alaska Governor will, interestingly enough, be going up against Katie Couric, who’s hosting Good Morning America all week.Katie’s now-infamous CBS News interview with Sarah during the ’08 campaign was widely viewed as one of the turning points for the Republican’s public image.Or another case of the “gotcha” lame-stream media doing all it can to cut her down just ’cause she’s conservative, if you believe Sarah’s version of events.Anyway, we’ll be watching tomorrow! You?
Colin Powell Endorses Gay Marriage (But Not Obama)
Former Secretary of State Colin Powell told CNN Wednesday that he had “no problem” with gay marriage, but after a week of talk show appearances he’s made it clear he’s still not ready to endorse its latest champion, Barack Obama. The Republican famously, and somewhat surprisingly, backed him in 2008.Supporting gay marriage is also a change for Powell, who had officially been opposed to it for years. But he made it clear while, promoting his new book, It Worked For Me, that he’s supportive of the right of same-sex couples to marry.Obama’s historic backing of same-sex marriage prompted Newsweek to dub him the first gay president, and has stirred both praise and criticism nationally. His lack of endorsement of Obama is not necessarily a boon to his likely GOP opponent, however. Powell has yet to throw his support to Mitt Romney either. The Los Angeles Times said Powell may still be “putting his thumb on the scale in the president’s favor” as he criticized Romney’s foreign policy blunders.
Sarah Jessica Parker Campaigns for President Obama, Gay Marriage
Hoping to reach a young demographic, Team Re-Elect President Barack Obama introduced its first national television spot last night during the MTV Movie Awards. The commercial features Sarah Jessica Parker, who “says you should be able to marry anyone you want” as part of the reason why she’s voting for Obama, while also touting how he’s “created four million jobs.”The actress adds:”As a woman, a mother, and an entrepreneur, I need to believe our country can be a place where everyone has a fair shot at success. This November’s election will determine whether we get to keep moving forward, or if we’re forced to go back to policies that ask people like my middle-class family in Ohio to carry the burden – while people like me, who don’t need tax breaks, get extra help.”Who will you vote for this fall?
